About Me

I'm Cathleen Cherry and I've been teaching since 1993 in various schools throughout Arizona.  I'm currently teaching French and Academic Decathlon at Prescott High School in Prescott, Arizona.  Throughout my career, I've taught first graders through community college students; ESL, English Language Arts, French, and all ten subject areas of Academic Decathlon.  I am an advocate of public education and believe in the potential of all students.

I was awarded a Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Fellowship in August 2018 to learn how to bring the world to my classroom and my classroom to the world.  This Fellowship includes a rigorous Global Education course, a symposium in Washington, DC, and an international field experience in Peru the summer of 2019.  I intend to implement various perspectives, communication activities, and technology into my classroom as a result of my experiences.  In 2019-2020, I hope to lead professional development workshops in my school district to facilitate global education throughout our schools.

Outside of teaching, I love traveling, spending time outdoors, including backpacking (especially in the Grand Canyon), as well as reading, calligraphy and doodling, writing, and letterpress printing.  I am always interested in learning new things.  I live with my husband and two daughters at mile high elevation in central Arizona.
